How to play Counting Critters

Counting Critters is a friendly numeracy game for kids ages 4 to 10. Each round shows you a group of bobbing animals; tap the number that matches how many you see. Twenty questions per round, no timer, and the counts get a little harder as you go.

Tips & strategy

• Count in pairs. Easier than counting one by one — group the critters into twos or fives and add.
• Take your time. There's no clock. Slow, accurate counting beats fast guesses.
• Read the level. Early questions use small numbers; later questions can go up to 10. The numeric range on the answer buttons tells you what to expect.
• Mix up the critters. Once you've nailed counting one species, the game mixes types — count them all, not just one kind.
