Tips for grown-ups

Pacing · what each game teaches · age guidance

Counting Critters: skip the timer for under-6s

The default mode auto-advances after a short pause. For younger players, the game waits indefinitely until they tap an answer. No timer means no frustration on close calls.

  • Ages 4-5 1-5 critters
  • Ages 6-8 1-10 critters
  • Ages 9+ plus distractors

Memory Match: start at 12 cards

Begin with the smallest grid (six pairs) and let them feel the win. Move up to 20 cards once they've found a few matches without help — and to 80 cards when they ask for a real challenge.

  • Easy 12 cards · 6 pairs
  • Medium 20 cards · 10 pairs
  • Hard 80 cards · 40 pairs

Shape Sorter: it celebrates effort, not speed

Wrong answers don't deduct points or end the game — the shape just bounces back to try again. Streaks are tracked but never penalize a miss; the goal is gentle classification practice.

  • Match +1 streak
  • Miss streak resets
  • Best streak saves locally
