Guess the hidden word one letter at a time. Six wrong guesses and it's over.
How to play Hangman online
Hangman is the classic word-guessing game: a hidden word shown as blanks, and you guess one letter at a time to reveal it. Every wrong guess draws another part of the figure — solve the word before the drawing is finished to win. This free browser version has eight themed packs, three difficulty levels, hints, and saved streaks. No downloads, no signup.
Hangman rules
- Guess letters. Tap the on-screen keyboard (or use your physical keyboard) to guess a letter.
- Right letter. Every spot that letter appears in the word is revealed at once.
- Wrong letter. One part of the figure is drawn. You get six wrong guesses — head, body, two arms, two legs.
- Win or lose. Reveal the whole word to win and extend your streak; fill in the figure and the word is shown so you learn it.
Hangman strategy and tips: how to win
- Start with vowels. A, E, I, O and U appear in almost every word — they map the skeleton fast.
- Then common consonants. R, S, T, L, N and D show up constantly; spend your safe guesses there next.
- Use the theme. The category is shown as a clue — let it narrow down likely words.
- Save risky letters. Hold off on Q, Z, X and J until the pattern points to them.
- Read the gaps. Common endings like -ING, -ED, and double letters reveal a lot once a few letters are in.

- Around the World — canada, brazil, egypt, japan, portugal, morocco, iceland, thailand.
- Movies & TV, Sports & Games, Science & Nature, Everyday Things, and a Mixed pack round out the set.
